Whistl is continuing to beef up its services by moving into the e-fulfilment market by acquiring a stake in Prism DM, whose holding company had a turnover of nearly £10m last year.
Prism DM has facilities in Farnborough and Rushden with a client list that includes Long Tall Sally, Oliver Sweeney, Brand Alley, Warner Brothers Studios, Le Chameau, National Trust, Sport Pursuit, and Emma’s Diary. The terms of the deal have not been revealed.
Prism DM is part of Prism DM Holdings, which also owns Just Data Systems.
Following the investment, Lieneke Happel will become the new managing director of Prism and will work with Rashpal Gill and the team. Mike Thom, founder director of Prism, will stay with the business on a part-time basis for the next two years to help with its strategic development.
“The move into e-fulfilment is a natural progression for the company and extends our offering in the supply chain,” said Whistl chief executive Nick Wells (pictured). “The 180 Prism staff will continue to provide excellent service, expertise and know-how to the business and with our size and scale we hope to maximise its potential in the future.”
Thom added: “I have every confidence that this investment by Whistl will accelerate the business to the next level, while maintaining the core service values we have developed over many years.”
In June, Whistl hired Jonathan Matchett as director of international and joined a new global alliance of parcel carriers as part of plans to boost overseas growth in its mail and parcel volumes.
